PGE will donate water rights to the State of Oregon, while nearly 1,500 acres of PGE's Sandy River Basin land is being given to the Western Rivers Conservancy, without a tax deduction, as part of a planned 9,000-acre conservation and recreation area.

The plan was developed in 2002 by a diverse group made up of PGE and 22 environmental organizations, state and federal natural resource agencies, local governments and businesses.
